Depth of Financial Markets

This map reflects the depth of financial markets, defined as stock market capitalization plus the amount of outstanding domestic private debt securities as a percentage of GDP. Market capitalization is the share price multiplied by the number of shares outstanding. The data are compiled by the authors of the Global Financial Development database from Standard and Poor's, the Global Stock Markets Factbook and supplemental S&P data.
